PulsePoint Respond


PulsePoint is a free app for IOS and Android devices. Fire and EMS dispatches are relayed immediately and users are notified with a unique alert tone on their mobile devices.


This instruction guide will allow users to install PulsePoint and configure it for their preferences. Its examples are primarily focused on use by residents of the Deer Springs Fire Protection District but are sufficiently general to be used in all locations.


Installation, configuration, and operation are actually quite easy. Once the user becomes familiar with use, it provides a valuable tool for fire safety situational awareness that is available 24/7.

Watch Duty


Watch Duty is a free wildfire notification app and it is REALLY a must have for those living in wildfire country. It displays a zoomable map of the western states showing all confirmed vegetation fires. Once a fire is confirmed it periodically updates with information obtained directly from official sources.  It is available for both IOS and Android devices and there is a version for your desktop browser.


While the basic app is free, they are they are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and gladly take donations to help defray costs. They also offer memberships (currently $25/year) that provide additional features and capabilities such as the location of firefighting aircraft (purple silhouettes .

Genasys PROTECT


is San Diego County’s newest effort to communicate speedy and reliable emergency information. Genasys PROTECT allows first responder agencies to provide disaster notifications, evacuation information, shelter locations, road closures and much more to the public in a timely manner. Information from Genasys Protect can be viewed at the website (https://protect.genasys.com/) or by downloading the Genasys Protect App. Using the app, you can subscribe to specific “zones”, such as areas you live, work, or frequently visit. Subscribing allows you to receive push notifications and view real time updates on status changes for any incident within San Diego County.
